The only thing that prevents a physicist from finding the spiritual truths that lie within the microscopic quantum realm of atoms and electron and protons and neutrons is the ego. But that is by design. The ego was created to try and prevent us from finding these spiritual truths that underly reality. So science does discover truth, but only parts of the truth. And they feel the power of this truth because it is the Light, which is why physicists are so fervent in their belief of science. They sense the energy of truth radiating from this discoveries. They are just missing pieces of the puzzle.
