FLYING ON OUR OWN

The Kabbalah Centre introduces us to the 99% reality and the Light of the Creator.  That’s the primary function of this global network of learning and wisdom. This introduction is usually an amazing, powerful, mind-altering and often miraculous experience. I think everyone gets a taste and sign of the miraculous when they are initially introduced to Kabbalah.

This “introduction” might last a month, a year, sometimes it stretches on for a few years. But sooner or later the mother bird—The Kabbalah Centre— must force its chick to leave the nest and fly on its own. In other words, keeping our connection, maintaining our connection to this source of energy and power is the sole responsibility of the individual.

You.

Me.

Everyone.

And the way we continue “flying” after we leave the “nest” is by removing the dead weight that prevents us from soaring high—the ego.

We all must let go of our emotional attachments to the things we encounter in this world. When we are too emotionally attached to anything, we lose control. Now the external world is controlling us instead of the other way around.

Let’s examine this idea further.

This phenomena of emotional attachment usually happens when we volunteer on Kabbalah Centre projects. We get so attached to a project, to our effort, our contribution and opinions, our ego becomes inflamed! Not in an obvious way,but rather in a subtle way that we are blind too. We trick ourselves because we tell ourselves: “I am doing this for the Light.”

Well, guess what?

The projects are not what the Centre is about. The projects and volunteering are about one thing: giving us an opportunity to escape the influences of our internal adversary, reactivity, self-interest and sense of entitlement. The projects are only a means to an end.

The project is not the goal. The goal is learning to let go. Of everything!

Now pay attention to this next point: After we let go, then the projects and the work that we do will manifest as a direct RESULT and EFFECT of our internal transformation. Get it?

We usually have it backwards. We think it’s all about the projects that we volunteer on. And that the more we volunteer, the more Light we spread.

Wrong.

First comes the internal, painful transformation. That is the level of consciousness and the 99%.

Then comes, in direct measure, the physical 1% expression of our internal work and that is how we expand classes, distribute more Zohars and attract more people in the world. Human transformation is what fuels the expansion of Kabbalah. Inner growth and pain by individuals is the engine that drives more Zohars out into the world.

Any Zohars that are out in the world today are a direct result of the pain, transformation and work of the Kabbalists, the teachers and the students of history who truly embraced the pain that accompanies genuine transformation and growth.

It’s a powerful, subtle, simple, but NOT easy paradigm shift that we need to make.

Eventually, after working and learning and growing on this path of Kabbalah, if we truly learn to take flight on our own, we come to realize that it’s between us and the Light.

The Centre is just there for the introduction.

If we truly grasp this, and we truly master the art of keeping our own connection to the Light, automatically we will remain loyal, unified, dedicated and deeply connected on a soul and physical level to our teachers and the Kabbalah Centre for life.

That’s the yardstick for measuring your success and truthfulness of your connection to the Light of the 99%.

If any of the above are not happening, it means you are not yet flying solo. Either Satan, the Adversary, is giving you temporary “lift” beneath your wings, or you are temporarily rising courtesy of the updraft and jet stream created by your teachers and friends, and sooner or later, that wind beneath your sails, the pressure system helping your ascend, will vanish.

And then we crash. We have a meltdown. A doubting festival takes place in our head.

We have to learn to fly on our own. The only way to truly maintain a permanent connection to the Light, after we have had our amazing introduction, is through the continual eradication of our ego, bit by bit, layer by layer, conquering doubt, after doubt, after doubt.

When the ego is truly being peeled away, we will know, not think, but know and feel an unbreakable bond and deep love for the place that made this introduction possible.

The Kabbalah Centre.

We will no longer be looking for recognition. That is such a low-level of Light, by the way.

We will no longer feel the need for constant attention from our teachers.

We will no longer expect anything in return and we will lose all sense of entitlement and feel only appreciation.

We will  know that true greatness is determined by the amount of doubt you overcome and ego you give up.

And when you reach that point, do you know what will happen the next morning?

You will crave attention from your teacher and want recognition again.

Why?

Because the Light of the Creator will be so darn impressed by your greatness and courage, he will send Satan into the ring with you again so that you can beat him again, and thus propel your life and this world to yet another level of Light and blessings and joy.

And soon enough, when enough of us achieve this kind of greatness, Satan’s job will come to an end.

The doubts will cease, the ego will vanish and immortal existence and our deepest dreams will come alive before our eyes.

Believe it.

It’s happening.

Billy, this summarizes exactly what being a Kabbalah student means, but most importantly , to be a community member. What about those long time students, those you have taken courses and attended events at the Center here and there, but they have never spread the Zohar and they rarely volunteer at the Center..only when they are asked to. Aren’t they flying yet?..are they still in the nest?
