Our consciousness creates our reality. That’s a bold and somewhat abstract statement. Nonetheless, it’s true! Therefore, it is worth the effort to figure out what it really means. It actually takes many long years of learning before we begin to truly grasp what consciousness is and how it shapes our reality. Most important, what separates Kabbalah from every other spiritual and scientific discipline in the world is the idea that there are two distinct forces of consciousness.

And then there is the ego, which is also known as the Adversary or Satan, in Hebrew.
This second force of consciousness is not who we are—at all! It’s an opponent and its sole purpose is to challenge us and make us believe that its voice is our own voice—even though it’s not. It takes a lifetime to make the separation between our true self and the illusionary but loud egocentric voice that compels us to do everything we know we shouldn’t and prevents us from doing everything we know we should.
